"I'm not going to put five guys back on the power play," he said. "And if I tell the players I don't want to get scored on on the power play, that feeds into the attitude of being scared."

Announced average attendance — the number of tickets sold and distributed, not necessarily people in the St. Pete Times Forum — is 17,216, up from last season's 15,497.
More meaningful, though, is the increase in actual average attendance at the 19,758-seat arena; that is, the turnstile count, which Hillsborough County reports was an average 13,443 in 31 games through February, the latest data available. At the same time last season, the average was 11,081.
That is an increase of 2,362 (21.3 percent) and does not count announced March sellouts of 20,274 with the Canadiens and 19,912 with the Blackhawks.

The Lightning sold only about 8,000 season tickets this season, so Leiweke's glee at 900 new subscribers is understandable.
Still, he can only dream about the years after the 2003-04 Stanley Cup season, when Tampa Bay was second and third, respectively, in the league in average announced attendance — 20,509 in 2005-06, 19,876 in 2006-07 — and the joint always was rockin'.

REST: LW Simon Gagne joined the team from Montreal, where he had a followup procedure for a nerve injury in his neck that kept him out of 18 games in October and November.
Coach Guy Boucher said he expected Gagne for Friday's game with the Hurricanes, or perhaps earlier, Tuesday against the Islanders.
"We could have done it later," Boucher said of the procedure, "but that would be close to the playoffs, and we wanted to give ourselves a little bit of time. We want to win every game, but we want our guys healthy, even if we have to sit some guys down in the short term."
HEALING: W Ryan Malone, in another step in his recovery from a mid-body injury that has kept him out of 17 games, skated in line rushes at the morning skate, though he wore a red jersey. Malone is expected back in the lineup around the beginning of April, Boucher said.

Átnéztem a 2010/11-es szezon adatait. Most nem untatnálak benneteket a számokkal, csak néhány érdekesség. A két legeredményesebb hónapunk az október(9-2-1) és a január(9-4-0) voltak. A leggyengébb teljes hónapunk a február volt(6-3-2). Bár a márciusnak még koránt sincs vége, de a mutatónk 2-4-4, ami a jövőre nézve nem tűnik túl bizalomgerjesztőnek.
Ha a konferencia helyezései az alapszakasz végén is így maradnak, akkor nagy valószínűség szerint a Pens-szel játszunk az első körben, ami pedig szerintem a halált jelenti, azaz ebben a szezonban meg kell elégednünk ennyivel. Tudom, hogy a cél csak ez volt, és azt teljesítjük is, de evés közben jön meg az étvágy, és bizony jó lenne túl jutnunk az első körön, de az ismert körülmények miatt ez véleményem szerint illúzió.

"It's frustrating because we only gave them 12 shots in the first two periods. We had double the shots and we had total control of the game," Boucher said. "The only thing I said on that power play was we can't get caught and that's exactly what happened. It's very frustrating when you keep one defenceman up there and you get caught.
"You want to blame yourself as a coach but when we tell the players that what we want to watch out for is them taking off and our guy's not even aware of it ... when you make a play like that you don't deserve to win."
